Turn several product sheets into a comparable record
A technical comparison service organises the information received from potential suppliers against the buyer’s requirements. It is useful when documents use different units, test methods or descriptions. The purpose is to make differences and unanswered questions visible so the buyer can decide what requires clarification or a trial.
Agree the comparison basis
Start with the buyer’s specification, intended application and the latest documents available for each candidate. Record the product designation, document date, revision and issuing source. Separate contractual limits from typical values and sample results. If two parameters use different test methods, flag the difference rather than presenting them as automatically equivalent.
Define the output
An agreed scope may include a comparison matrix, a document register and a list of clarification questions. Each requirement can be recorded as supported by the supplied document, outside the requested range or awaiting information. A blank field should remain visibly unresolved. File references allow the buyer to return to the original evidence instead of relying only on a summary.
Keep technical approval with the right party
Collecting and comparing documents is different from laboratory testing, certification or approval of the buyer’s formulation. Where a test or specialist opinion is needed, agree that task separately. The buyer’s technical team should decide whether a difference is acceptable and what evidence is needed before approving the material.
Prepare a focused enquiry
Provide the product family, intended use, destination and specification. Attach the documents to be compared or explain whether supplier enquiries are also required. State the requested output format and any internal approval milestones. The scope can then distinguish document coordination, sample arrangements and any independent testing, with responsibilities defined for each activity.
Discuss the required support
Share the product or project brief, destination and the activities you would like to coordinate.
